Royal appointment
11 October 2007

On 17th April '07 André Dosé - Gulf Air President and Chief Executive, delivered a presentation on the state of the airline and rolled out his 'Making Gulf Air Well Programme'.  It was a confident and refreshing approach and clearly demonstrated the belief that Gulf Air's operation could indeed be successfully turned around.

As part of that programme Royal Aero was sought to carry out a health check on both Gulf Air's CFM56-5A and -5C engine fleets.  Royal Aero and Gulf Air staff worked in partnership to investigate the current situation before Royal Aero presented its finding and recommendations to Gulf Air. Included within its findings Royal Aero showed how Gulf Air could, with Royal Aero's guidance, make direct operational financial savings in excess of US$50,000,000

It was also recognised that the direct saving could well be dwarfed by the additional potential saving to indirect parts of the business as a direct consequence to the changes made within powerplant management.

Jeremy Edwards (Business Development Manager - Royal Aero Group GmbH): "I am delighted that Royal Aero has been appointed by Gulf Air to help them in their ambition to get well.  Gulf Air's success is important to us and I believe that the recommendations we have made, when implemented, will significantly improve the efficiency of engine management and will have a fundamental impact on areas of the business that are causing the most concern including punctuality and reliability"
