In April ’08 Royal Aero announced its success in being awarded the contract to act as the technical guardian of Iberia’s CFM56-5C4 fleet while they were off-wing undergoing repair.

Royal has since successfully completed the management of 10 x CFM56-5C4 engines as they passed through SRT’s Zurich maintenance facility in 2008 and 2009.

Royal was responsible for full shop visit management services and included the attendance of table inspections and the carrying out of scrap and invoice reviews. Iberia relied on Royal to liaise with SRT on their behalf, and to help ensure that the program was controlled effectively and that technical and financial variances were promptly assessed, understood and dealt with clearly and decisively.
As a direct result of Royal’s management, Iberia was delighted to realise US$1.2m savings from workscope amendments alone.

In addition, Royal was able to secure approximately US$450k in cost recovery exercises and is awaiting the outcome of submitted warranty claims; their immediate worth estimated to be US$700k and with an, as yet, unquantifiable ongoing accumulative value.
